Learn to Row (LTR) for Juniors is designed for those age 13–18 with little or no rowing experience who would like to learn the basics of sculling. Participants learn about safety, boat parts and terms, and the physical fitness relevant to rowing.
Participants start out learning the correct form on a rowing machine (ashore), then move into 8x+ (8 rowers with a coxswain,) 4x (4 rowers with or without a cox) or 2x sculling shells. At least one experienced RRC Coach in a launch (motorboat) oversees practices to motivate and advise on technique.
Upon completion of the program, participants may elect to continue into the follow-on Junior Experienced Rowing program.
No more LTR programs are planned for 2017, but please sign up for the newsletter to be notified when programs are announced next year.
